Friday, 22 April 2005 ‡ 09:12I have been using Google since summer 1999 and it's appeal was back then, simple unclutered start page, as a search application all i wanted to see was a text box and a seach button - and even now, after nearly 6 years, even though others around them use vast amounts of banners for advertising which fills the start page and takes time to load, Google is amazingly simple and still perfect.
Over the years Google have added more and more services, such as groups, news, image search and froogle but the one i like is its map service. It is absolutely amazingly simple, quick and loads so fast, i cannot believe i am running it over the network using http. I can search for local shops, i can plan a route, zoom in and search streets, its great.
I have to say, if Google do not do anything to their start page, but continue to develop more applications and services, to the next generation, the word Google will mean "Search the Internet".
