When you buy a car less than 3 years old, one thing you don't have to worry about is the MoT. This is exactly how felt when i bought my car, but now the car is 8 years old and this month was the first time the car actually failed it's test. With over 77,000 miles on the clock i don't think i have done too bad, though i did hope the shocks may have lasted a litter longer.
Well i had the shocks and springs changed all round with associated bits and bobs done at the same time. Took the car for a spin and it was totally revived, bumps damped, less body roll, i was happy. I paid the man? and headed back for the re-test.
Enjoying the blast home along the country lanes, the car died on me! I was absolutely gutted, i could have cried. Plus i could not pull off the road and i had stopped just by a clear part of the road near the crest of a hill and began to worry about some nutter flying over the hill overtaking someone and having nowhere to go but straight toward me, thankfully that never happened.
Thirty minutes later Brian from The AA diagnosed the problem and towed me back to Stealth Racing.
After several minutes under the bonnet, flicking through Data Manuals and checking the ECU on diagnostics, Vince concluded car needed a new Crank Speed Sensor, a very common fault with my type of car.
Eventually having changed this sensor and finding the coil was also faulty, i am now back on the road, but i can look back on this and almost laugh, but at the time, i was absolutely lost.
